Longer answer to allowing your body to heal
We have to talk about toxins because they do so much damage. While building up the body with nutrition, exercise, and rest is essential, we must first address toxins. Toxic overload is a major contributor to a host of diseases.
In his book, The Toxic Solution, Dr. Pizzorno says that toxins poison our enzymes on which countless bodily functions depend, such as the production of hemoglobin. They displace structural minerals that weaken our bones. They damage DNA and gene expression that can cause cancer and a host of other diseases.
Toxins damage cell membranes preventing them from receiving vital messages, such as muscle cells not responding to magnesium to relax. Toxins cause hormonal imbalances that can disrupt every system in the body. One of many symptoms is fatigue throughout the entire body. Early on, you probably won’t notice the fatigue, but once you feel it your body is definitely in distress. Your body is warning you before something more serious happens.
This is not to say you can never eat a doughnut again, but while you are working to get your body back to optimal health why would you take steps backward on the way there? Why bring your body down when you’re working to build it up? If you are fighting something serious like cancer or heart disease then please take courage in knowing that by disciplining yourself and staying on track to healing you are creating an environment within your body to heal. Diligence is key.
You don’t want to heal only halfway, so don’t put a half-hearted effort into healing. People fail for lack of knowledge, but they also fail when they have the knowledge and do not apply it.
You can take a few months out of your life to focus on getting well and making the rest of your life great. Then when you are in optimal health a doughnut every now and then won’t hurt you because your body will have the defenses to quickly rid your body of its toxins. And to tell you the truth, after you’ve been eating well and feeling great a doughnut probably will not sound as good as it does now.
When your body is in a constant state of fatigue it is not at ease. It is in a state of dis-ease. Depending on your body’s particular weakness you will eventually begin exhibiting symptoms of that weakness. If you have pain in your joints you may be diagnosed with a form of arthritis. If you have extreme pain in your head you may be diagnosed with migraines.
Whatever your symptoms may be they will be given a label, then a medication to reduce the symptoms, but the real issue is that your body is in a state of dis-ease. The medications do not address the cause of the symptoms they just mask the symptoms, and they often create more symptoms. But, not to worry, they also have medications for those symptoms, as well. Toxins enter us through the air we breathe, foods, medicines, skin products, things we touch, etc. Being bombarded with various toxins on a daily basis, you can understand why we are so toxic and why detoxing is a necessity to reach your best health. In fact, detoxing periodically is a good idea for all of us for the rest of our lives, minimum once a year.
Another reason detoxing is important is so we can absorb nutrients efficiently and allow our organs to function optimally, which brings us to the importance of nutrition.
The importance of nutrition cannot be overstated.
Every organ in your body, your blood, connective tissues, bones, and even every cell requires vitamins, minerals, water and oxygen to be healthy. Some vitamins and minerals are fat soluble, so good fats are essential to make them available for absorption. Good fats come from things like fatty fish, nuts, avocados, coconuts, and extra virgin olive oil.
Remember, the cleaner, the better. In other words, eat organic as much as you can. Your body has enough to detox from everyday living without adding to it by eating GMO foods or foods sprayed with pesticides.
All metabolic disease, in other words non-contagious disease, disease that your body creates, comes from two things: deficiency and toxicity.
The path to healing, to wellness, is taking in proper nutrition that our body requires and eliminating the toxins.
